Mangalyam or Mangalsutra

Most of us are/were eager for the “mangalyam tantunanena” moment in our life. This moment is the indication of new beginning in our life. When mangalyam or thali is tied to a girl, she is considered to be married. In our modern society most of them have a question that is it mandatory to wear Mangalsutra?

Some people blindly believe in the customs without questioning and some people deny following it as they consider it to be superstitious. The choice is up to the individual but in this post let me explain the scientific reason behind Mangalyam from what I have researched.

  •  Most of the metals have Ayurvedic properties. Usually Thali is made of gold which destroys the stressful vibrations present in the universe.
  •   In some cases mangalsutra is made by stringing gold with dark colour  beads ( red or black) in a thread. The dark colour beads prevents the negative vibrations from entering the women’s by absorbing it.
  • ·         It is advised that thali should be in constant friction with the body portion directly , This is because  the body heat of the women  keeps it in the active state.

  • The length of the mangalsutra should be up to the heart.  It helps in healthy functioning of heart as well as the breasts (responsible for feeding the  baby).
  •   It regularizes women’s blood circulation and body pressure as women tend to work hard.
  • It improves the immune system of the women.

  •  The mangalyam is tied around the neck. The groom puts the first knot  and next two are tied by groom’s sister. The first knot symbolizes the union and commitment of the couple , the second the union and commitment of two families and the third as an assurance from groom’s familyto ensure bride’s well-being.

Now the ball is in your court.
