Lemon and Chilly

 Many consider our customs and traditions to be auspicious, some consider them to be superstitious, and some even make comedy scenes in films in the name of bringing awareness in the society.  But many of us forgot the fact that our ancestors did not frame customs which has no use. As years passed, most of us were not ready to know the exact reason behind our customs. This is the reason why many invaders changed our traditions and enforced their's in our country.
 One such tradition is hanging lemon and chilies .Whether it may be a brand new vehicle or an auspicious day, the common thing followed in our country is hanging a lemon with seven chilies. Today huge populations do this, but how many of us know the valid reason?
 
There is a wonderful reason behind this. Green chilly is rich in Vitamin A and C. On the other hand Lemon is rich in Vitamin C. When a thread is pierced with these lemon and Chilies, it absorbs the vitamins and different nutrients present that gradually vaporizes in the surroundings. We inhale this air and use their properties for our health benefits.  Our ancestors wanted to propagate their use in daily and during ceremonies which slowly turned to be superstitious.
Some even claims that lemon and chilies keeps insects and pests away from the place. Therefore our forefathers would have used this to keep the microbes away.

After knowing the reason, all logic seem to be scientific. Our Ancestors were more advanced than us, but the pure logic is hidden and they are attached to the religion.

Throwing Coins in the River

It is very common practice in India to throw coins in the river, especially in religious places without a second thought.
