Bells

Whenever we hear the bell sound from temple, we assume that it is a sign of indication for giving prasadham.   But is it the only reason for having bell in temple? The answer is NO! As in case of the structure of the temple, the bells are also having scientific reasons. The temple bells are made of a mixture of various metals like Cadmium, Copper, Zinc, Nickel, Lead, Chromium, Manganese. Making a bell using a combination of these metals is not enough. The real science lies in the percentage at which of each of these metals are used in making the bell. A Bell’s ring clears our mind and helps us stay sharp and keep our full concentration on devotional purpose while we are entering the inner sanctum. These bells are made in such a way that when they produce a sound it creates a unity in the Left and Right parts of our brains. Gopuram

A Gopura (singular) (Sanskrit: गोपुर) or Gopuram (plural) is a monumental tower, usually ornate, at the entrance of any temple, especially in Southern India. A temple may have multiple gopurams, typically constructed into multiple walls in tiers around the main shrine. The temple's walls are typically square with the outer most wall having four gopura-vimanas, one each on every side, situated exactly in the center of each wall. The sanctum, sanctorum and its towering roof (the central deity's shrine) are also called the vimanam. Gopurams are exquisitely decorated with sculpture and carvings and painted with a variety of theme. The form began rather modestly in the 10th century, as at Shore Temple, Mahabalipuram, with the 11th century Brihadeeswarar Temple in Thanjavur, marking a crucial step forward with two multi-storey gopurams from that period, much larger than any earlier ones, though much smaller than the main tower of the temple.
